Flat-File MA accented character conversion

$

Hello, we are using FIM 2010 R2 SP1 (4.1.3599) with a flat file MA to import/sync a csv flat-file generated by a HR system. We are using UTF-8 code page. The HR system has many international people in it, so there are many accented or diacritic characters.  We need to convert those to regular English non-accented equivalents.  I know we could write sync rule or rules extension code to do this. However, there is an option on the select attributes properties page, under advanced a checkbox that says "Replace accented characters with non-accented variants", which looked like an easy way to fix this issue.  However, enabling that option does not seem to change anything during the import/sync process.  Has anyone had any success using that option, and is there anything we are missing?

Renewal request not working as expected on FIMCM...

Trying to accomplish what's described here:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee534907%28v=ws.10%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396#BKMK_ConfigureRenewalRequests

I'm pretty sure it was working couple of months ago, but now when change the datecert_renew column in the dbo.Certificates -table, nothing happens... there isn't an email sent and I cannot figure out why.

Also, when logging to the portal with the cm update service account, there isn't a renewal request made at all... any ideas where to start checking?

ECMA2 SchemaType is Case-Sensitive

$

Created a new ECMA2 for a web service. In the code, I set the Microsoft.MetadirectoryServices.SchemaType to "Person" (with uppercase P) to match the Web Service's object type. As a result, the connector space object would not join to the metaverse object "person".

Symptoms: When generating a preview, the "Provisioning Summary" and Connector Updates" items did not appear in the Contents menu of the Preview dialog for any object in the Connector Space. Even when manually joined, the object would not try to execute an import flow rule (direct or extended). After hours scratching my head, I finally noticed the case difference of the object, recompiled the ECMA2, reloaded the interfaces, and that sorted it out. Sigh.

Yet another item to support my thesis, "The only thing case-sensitivity does is cause stuff to break".

Azure AD Connect question

Hi,

Just came across Azure AD Connect: http://blogs.technet.com/b/ad/archive/2015/03/24/azure-ad-connect-preview-2-is-available.aspx

Is this replacing both DirSync and Azure AD Sync?

How does this fit into the picture?

Thanks,

SK

FIM service account permission during linked mailbox provisioning

$

I have a FIM environment which provision a cross forest link mailbox.

When using domain admin as destination FIM MA service account, provisioning works fine.

However when using a FIM service account, provisioning failed with a corrupted mailbox.

homeMDB is empty.

A quick look into FIM event viewer shows the error: ExchangeGuid is mandatory on UserMailbox. Property Name: ExchangeGuid

The service account has the following permission:

Forest wide directory read only and replicating directory changes rights

Full control for OUs involve in the provisioning

Exchange Recipient management

I tested logging in as the service account to create the link mailbox manually and it works.

Only after adding built in domain\builtin administrators membership does the provision start to work again. However, customer requirement dictate that this is not allowed.

May I know if I missed out any additional permission required for cross forest mailbox provisioning.

Thanks in advance!

Session Ended (Error 3002)

$

I'm trying to rollout Forefront Identity Manager to my company. I have it installed on three servers : SQL, Portal and Web.

Everything is setup and seems to be working correctly, except for one issue.

When I open a browser and navigate to the registration page, I get the first page, click next and immediately get "Session ended. Return to the home page to start again (Error 3002)". If I click to go back to the first page it then works correctly.

Every user trying this after me wont have the same problem.

I then browse to the password reset webpage. Again I get the first page, but after entering my credentials I get the Session Ended page again. Once again if i click to go back to the first page, everything then works, and all other users trying this after me work fine.

It seems to be the very first person to try one of the web pages gets the error, and then everything works. (not just my account, any test account i try first) I'm not sure how long it takes to fail again, as it's not in live environment yet, but when I try it a few days later I'm back to this "first attempt will fail" problem.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Combinding Resources in the FIM Portal Navigation Bar

$

We have two different OUs for computers in our AD that have the same attributes. Server and Workstation, there is no attribute that indicates if the computer is a server or a workstation. My solution was to create two different MAs, AD Server MA and Workstation MA and corresponding Metaversa objects and FIM schema objects. All good so far, I sync the appropriate computer objects from each ou into their corresponding FIM schema objects.  I have created FIM Portal Navigation Bar Resources for each that show the Servers and Workstations correctly.  My question is this,  I would like a Nav Bar resource - Computers - that combine both of these resources, and then under Computers have Servers and Workstations - is this possible?

Computers

      Servers

      Workstations

Thanks in advance

BHOLD Modelgenerator / Modelloader: missing application name in permission in the Role definition of the exportflie.

$

I have 2 applications (SAP-T and SAP-R) stored in BHOLD Core with same permission: Administrator.

I have 2 roles (Koos Test1 and Koos Test2) stored in BHOLD Core. "Koos Test1" role has been connected to permission Administrator belonging to application SAP-R and the "Koos Test2" role has been connected to permission Administrator belonging to application SAP-T.

When I make an export with BHOLD Model Generator, these permissions have correctly been stored:

  <application name="SAP-T" module="" parameter="0" protocol="DCOM">    <Permission name="Administrator" description="Administrator" />  </application>  <application name="SAP-R" module="" parameter="0" protocol="DCOM">    <Permission name="Administrator" description="Administrator" />  </application>

But the 2 roles are not correctly been stored in the export file:

  <role name="Koos Test1">    <task name="Administrator" description="Administrator" />  </role>  <role name="Koos Test2">    <task name="Administrator" description="Administrator" />  </role>

The missing link is the definition of the application to which the permission belongs.

This means that the role model is not correct when I import this generated export file into another BHOLD environment with Modelloader.
